The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization open to all practical Catholic men, who are at least 18 years old. It is the world’s largest fraternity of Catholic men. The Order is dedicated to the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism. The Knights provide monetary donations and volunteer service to a range of Church, community, and charitable activities. Our local Council helps support St. Patrick’s CYM and choir programs, diocesan seminarians, people with learning disabilities, the American Red Cross, and various disaster and assistance projects. Major activities include fish fries, pork chop sales, the Mental Retardation/Learning Disabilities (Tootsie Roll) Fund Drive, Halloween party and Easter Egg Hunt for the children, wives appreciation dinner, KC Choir, 8:30 Mass ushers, and highway cleanup.
Prospective members are asked to fill out a short application form. Qualified applicants are then welcomed into the Order during ceremonies held periodically throughout the year. Membership is maintained as long as annual dues are paid and you remain a practical Catholic. Meetings (about one hour long) are held the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the KC Hall. Most activities take but a few hours of your time. You may become as active in the organization as you like and thus set your own required time per month. Various Officer positions of course require more time; for example, the Grand Knight position might take five to ten hours a week. If interested in joining, please call current Grand Knight, Mark Horning (444-8971), or speak with any other Brother Knight.
Supporting the Knights in their service as well as with projects of their own, The St.Bridgid’s Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary is open to any woman who is a family member of a Knight.
